5. Legal bases

Where UK data-protection law applies, we process personal data because it is necessary to provide the service you request, because we have legitimate interests in operating and securing Jotter, because you have given consent where consent is required (for example for certain advertising choices), or because we must comply with law.

6. Services we use

We use specialist service providers to operate Jotter. They may process information on our behalf or under their own terms where relevant:

We do not sell your personal information for money.

7. Advertising and privacy choices

Jotter Plus removes ads. Free users may see Google AdMob ads. Where required, Jotter asks for advertising/privacy consent before ads are initialised. If privacy options are available in your region, you can reopen them from Jotter’s Settings screen.

8. Notifications and widgets

If you enable notifications or widgets, Jotter may display eligible saved Jots on your device. You can disable notifications in Jotter or your device settings. You can mark a Jot to keep it off notifications and widgets while retaining it inside Jotter.

9. How long we keep information

We generally keep account and library information while your account remains active. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify account data we control, subject to limited information we may need to retain temporarily for security, fraud prevention, technical recovery or legal obligations. Local app data may remain on a device until the app is removed or its storage is cleared. Apple, Google and other independent providers may retain records according to their own legal and contractual obligations.

10. International processing

Some service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards recognised by applicable data-protection law.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data, including rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy of certain information, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

You can delete your Jotter account inside the app, or use our account deletion page. For other privacy requests, email support@tryjotter.app.

If UK data-protection law applies, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
